Joinery and Cabinetmaking

Our fully equipped joinery workshop specialises in a wide range of services, including:

At H&S Timbers, we produce premium-quality timber joinery using both solid wood and engineered board materials, including melamine, MDF, and chipboard. We also offer professional finishing services, ideal for customers without access to spraying or sealing equipment.

Each project is tailored to your specifications, and can be crafted in a variety of timber species, including African hardwoods and imported exotic woods.

Cut & Edge

WeAt H&S Timbers, we provide a professional cut and edge service tailored for carcass building, cabinetmaking, joinery, and shelving applications.

Whether you’re a kitchen manufacturer, interior designer, or DIY enthusiast, our accurate and efficient processes help bring your panel-based projects to life.

Our facility is equipped with a networked beam saw for precise, high-volume cutting of melamine, MDF, chipboard, and plywood.
Cutting lists are loaded directly into our nesting software and sent to the saw for efficient, optimised panel layouts—minimising waste and ensuring perfect repeatability.

We also operate a modern, high-performance edge bander specifically designed for repetitive manufacturing of:
– Kitchen cabinet components
– Cupboard doors and drawer fronts
– Pre-cut shelving units

Edge Banding Options Include:
1.PVC edge banding: Available in 0.3mm, 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm thicknesses for a clean, durable finish.
2.Veneer edging: For a more natural, woodgrain look on visible edges.
Our edge banding is applied using a hot-melt adhesive through an automated process for strong, consistent adhesion—ready for immediate assembly or further finishing.

Timber

At H&S Timbers, we offer a wide selection of hardwood and softwood timber to meet the needs of construction, joinery, cabinetry, and custom furniture projects. With decades of experience in timber procurement and processing, we ensure consistent, high-quality material for every application.
We carry various timber grades and sizes, and our in-house machining services allow us to supply timber planed all round (PAR) or shaped into custom profiles such as architraves, skirtings, and more. Quick lead times and attention to detail make us a reliable partner for both large and small projects.

Structural Pine
Our structural pine is graded to SABS standards (typically S5), making it a trusted choice for structural and load-bearing applications. It’s available in rough-sawn and PAR formats, ideal for construction, framing, and interior builds.

Exotic Hardwood Timber
For more decorative and high-end applications, we also stock a range of exotic hardwoods sourced from Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. These timbers offer rich colours, unique grain patterns, and long-lasting strength—perfect for furniture, architectural joinery, and feature pieces.

Laminated Beams and Tops

Laminated structural beams are engineered by bonding multiple layers of dimensioned timber using a durable, moisture-resistant adhesive. This construction method enhances strength, reduces warping, and allows for longer, more stable spans—making them the preferred choice for both load-bearing structures and architectural designs.

At H&S Timbers, we manufacture custom laminated beams in both Pine (Lamstock) and Saligna (Glulam), with lengths available up to 13.2 metres. These beams are ideal for:
– Roof structures and rafters
– Pergolas and outdoor frames
– Exposed interior beams
– Structural elements where aesthetics matter

Laminated Wood Tops for Counters and Furniture
We also produce laminated wood tops, perfect for kitchen counters, bar tops, workbenches, and more. Crafted from a variety of hardwoods, softwoods, and imported exotic timbers, our tops are made to order in custom thicknesses and sizes to suit your exact needs.

Laminated tops combine natural beauty with durability and are available in species such as Pine, Saligna, Kiaat, Oak, Maple, African Mahogany, and others.
